Stefan closes the door behind her with a nod, because "crazy day" might be a rather large understatement. He gives her a moment, before stepping up behind her, rubbing her arms gently as he pulls her closer. He hasn't had many surprise family members come back from the dead, but he can imagine how the shock would feel.

"Are you okay?"

It's definitely an understatement, but it feels like almost anything would be. It's not every day that someone comes back from the dead -- although she supposes at least no one tortured Lydia this time around to accomplish the goal.

Small victories.

She closes her eyes, allowing her head to rest on his chest for a moment.

"No."

It's not easy for her to admit, Allison tries so hard to seem together and not show people how upset she really is over things, but she knows she doesn't have to do that with Stefan.

He sighs softly as he pulls her in tightly, letting his arms wrap around her from behind, chin moving forward to rest against her shoulder. "It's okay not to be okay. Anyone would be." He knows she wants to keep a certain facade up with her friends - needs to, considering the things Kate has done - but he also wants her to know that she's allowed to feel other things.

"I know that. I know she's done terrible things." Unforgivable things, she would never justify what Kate did to Derek's family, the legacy of her actions, of her family's, weighs heavily on Allison's shoulders.

"But she was like a sister to me."

"It's not wrong for you to have missed her," he says gently, keeping his tone soft. "Or even missing what she meant to you." There's another beat, before he turns her slowly to face him. "And there's nothing wrong with being angry at her for the things she's done either."

"I know. I just...I never even got to confront her about any of it, by the time I knew the truth she was dead and she's suddenly not and I don't know what to do about it."

Allison often had to deal with the realities of her family members only after they were dead, it made it more difficult to find closure, for one thing.

Stefan nods for a moment, before, rubbing her arms gently before turning her to face him gently. "Okay. Let's put aside how your friends will feel about this because I know that that's important, but for now, pretend that it isn't. Do you want to talk to her about it? Because now you can. You can get whatever you want to say off your chest."

Allison is quiet for a moment, considering what Stefan is saying. It's hard to think about what she wants, easier to focus on the needs and feelings of others than focus on her own.

"I don't know what I would say."

Stefan nods, considering for a moment as he thinks. "There's a lot of things that I wish I could have said to people I can't talk to anymore - both good and bad. I won't pressure you, because in the end it's your decision, but ... while she's here, maybe consider it. Just so there aren't any regrets if she winds up gone again."

"I don't what to say. She wasn't who I thought she was at all. The aunt I knew, who I thought I knew, she never would have done those things."

But Kate did, and as far as everyone else is concerned, she got what she deserved.

"My grandfather used to say I reminded him of her."

Stefan rubs her shoulders gently again, before nodding a bit. "You're nothing like her. That's what he wanted to make you, and you didn't let him. That's important to remember."

"I know." Logically, she does know that, but it's hard to forget how close she came, how deep into that darkness she fell. She almost didn't get back out.

He nods in agreement, before leaning closer and pressing a kiss to her cheek. "No pressure. I promise." And with that, he'll pull back and glance around for a room service menu. "But for right now, I think we could use some food. What about you?"

"Some food sounds good." If nothing else, she can drown her feelings in junk food, it's not a good long term solution but it might be good for now.

He nods before going to flop down onto the bed and flipping through. "Burgers? Or are you thinking of something else?"

She sits down next to him, thinking for a moment. "Pizza?"

"Pizza." He ditches the menu for the hotel and reaches for the phone book instead. "Sounds good to me."

"Perfect. What do you want on it? I'm a simple pepperoni and cheese girl myself." But she's willing to compromise if he wants something else.

He pauses for a moment, before shaking his head. "Nope. I think pepperoni and cheese sounds perfect."

"Me too." She hands the phone to him so he can call in the order.

And he will do that, and they will settle in for an easy night of pizza and hanging out. As far as Stefan's concerned, they can deal with Kate and the implications therein in the morning.
