"You were just being honest. I hope you get to someday. Be a dad I mean, if that's what you want." Just because Wynonna doesn't think she's fit to be a parent doesn't mean Dean isn't. He took good care of Sam, that has to mean something.
"Yeah. Me too." He won't, if canon has it's way. But that's for a sadder world than the one they're in right now. If Dean's honest with himself, he does think he'll be dead first, because he's not a man who has a history of getting what he wants.
But time to get back to the game. "Is it my turn again? Because if it is, I'm taking the shot."
"Yeah, I don't blame you. I might follow suit." Shots definitely feel better than telling more truths. Wynonna thinks she'll survive, she always does, but she doesn't think she'll ever get to be happy, and if canon has it's way, she won't.
Neither of their canons are particularly kind, unfortunately, but that is what RP is for. Dean pours them both another set of shots, before lifting his to toast against hers. "To avoiding the truth."
"I'll drink to that." Neither of their canons are very nice but RP can make up for it. "As much as I wouldn't wish my life on anyone, it's nice to know someone gets it." The sort of burden they have to live with, the knowledge that they might not ever be happy.
"Yeah, it is," he agrees. Those people tend to be few and far between. In fact, the ones attached to Winchesters they usually lose before everything is said and done. "Sometimes not even people who are on the job get it."
"Nope. Waverly doesn't get it the same way, and in some ways I'm glad. I'm glad she and Nicole can be happy." They deserve that, and all she's ever wanted is her family to be safe and happy. "She should talk to Cas though, she's still figuring out the angel bit."
He nods, taking another sip of his drink. Part of him wonders if he should put it out there - that maybe the two of them could be happy, if they tried, but this doesn't feel like the time to have that conversation. So he lets her divert.
"Yeah, he's pretty curious about her too. Apparently nephilim aren't all that common."
Wynonna wouldn't have known what to say if he put it out there. Being happy seems like something other people get, not her. She'd just fuck it up anyways. She's glad he lets her change the subject.
"I always knew she was special, but I never expected to the amount. I think it'd be good for her to touch base with another angel considering her dad isn't around anymore. She'll been learning everything on the fly."
Dean nods. "Cas will help how he can. His people skills aren't the greatest though, and he will not understand seventy-five percent of your pop culture references."
But he and Dean have figured out a way to communicate - maybe Cas and the Earps will too.
"I've talked to Doc and he was in a well for over a hundred years, though I think he's adjusted to modern life better than it sounds like Cas has. Still, Waverly is good at people, she'll be fine."
If there's one thing Wynonna believes in, it's her baby sister.
